HOW MY APPROACH IS DIFFERENT
I’ve always believed that music is a universal language, but for some, the traditional way of learning that language can feel like a wall instead of a bridge.
With a dual career as a professional drum tutor and a teacher in an autism specialist school, I don't just teach "drums for kids"; I provide a specialised musical space designed specifically for children with SEND and additional needs.
I know that for a child with autism, ADHD or sensory processing differences, a standard music lesson can be overwhelming. The lights might be too bright, the instructions too vague or the expectations too rigid.
My approach is built on professional classroom experience. Because I work daily in a specialist school setting, I bring a toolkit of proven strategies to the drum stool.
My goal isn't just to teach a paradiddle or a rock beat; it’s to help my students find autonomy, joy and a sense of achievement. Whether we are working on fine motor skills, improving concentration or simply having a loud, rhythmic release after a day at school, I am dedicated to making sure every student leaves their lesson feeling ten feet tall.
I help them find their own rhythm in a world that often beats to a different drum.
"Jamie has a rare gift. He combines the technical skill of a pro drummer with the deep empathy and patience of a specialist teacher."
