JAMIE WYKES DRUMS

BEATS WITHOUT BARRIERS

WHY LEARN HOW TO PLAY THE DRUMS?

Music is a language without the pressure of words. For children with speech and language needs, the drums offer a non-verbal voice. Drumming is perfectly suited for kids with additional needs. It provides a structured yet creative outlet that bridges the gap between physical coordination and emotional expression.

Got a "fidgeter" or a high-energy hero? Drumming is the perfect outlet for 'heavy work'. It’s a safe, productive space to release tension and turn "noise" into a masterpiece. We move at their pace. Whether they need ear defenders, visual color-coding, or a break to jump around, my lessons are 100% adaptable.

HI, I'M JAMIE

By day, I’m a teacher at a specialist school for autism; after hours, I’m a drum instructor for SEN children with a range of abilities. I believe that music isn’t just about hitting a target, it’s about finding a rhythm that fits. For children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and neurodivergent learners, the drum kit isn't just an instrument; it's a tool for sensory regulation, confidence and pure release.
